Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Designer I to join our Power Distribution Engineering Group in Allentown, PA. The role designs overhead and underground electric distribution systems and supports field data collection and back-office activities according to the client’s scope of work.

You’ll develop field notes, drawings, specifications and estimates while coordinating with engineers and designers. Travel regionally as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree acceptable but not required.
• 1+ years Electric Utility or telecommunications field experience preferred.
• Familiarity with NESC preferred.
• Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications desired.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to track and manage day-to-day activities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• AutoCAD / PLS CADD or similar programs preferred.
• Clear and Valid Driver's license is required.
• Occasional travel is primarily regional to the utility client(s) territory during the business day or overnight.
• Storm Duty.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed design of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems.
• Acquire knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and industry standards.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, calculations, charts & graphs, and construction package.
• Maintain production and quality of projects including field data and records.
• Perform field data collection utilizing laptop, tablet, GPS and other devices.
• Develop knowledge of telephone, cable and other communication facilities.
• Operate equipment to take measurements on utility poles and mid-span facilities.
• Present ideas effectively and communicate clearly with colleagues and clients.
