Job summary

New York Public Library is hiring a Manager of Distribution and Delivery Operations to lead the BookOps delivery program. The role focuses on nightly logistics, routing, staffing, and warehouse planning at the Library Services Center to support NYPL, BPL, and ReCAP services.

You will supervise 11 Motor Vehicle Operators, optimize routes with GPS and ServiceNow, ensure security, and collaborate with branches to ensure timely, accurate materials movement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid NYS driver’s license required.
• 3-5 years of management/supervisory experience.
• 5-7 years of related experience.
• Experience in complex distribution, route planning and fleet management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee nightly logistics, truck routing, and distribution efficiency, including the specialized ReCAP delivery service for NYPL and Columbia University.
• Train, mentor, supervise, and evaluate Motor Vehicle Operators—managing schedules, attendance, and growth.
• Ensure evening staff have administrative assistance and necessary equipment for operations.
• Monitor route performance using GPS tracking and ServiceNow; maintain security protocols.
• Oversee loading dock and warehouse operations, staging shipments and coordinating with partners.
