Job summary

The New York Public Library is seeking a Motor Vehicle Operator for Library Services Center to handle pickups and deliveries across 4 boroughs and 150 branches. The role requires driving within NYC, performing basic vehicle maintenance, and ensuring timely transport of materials.

You will be responsible for loading, unloading, inspections, and safe operation of fleet trucks, with a 40-hour work week and overtime as needed. CDL preferred but not mandatory for all duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License preferred.
• Driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Pickup and deliver all library materials, mail, and office supplies.
• Load and unload materials, including heavy objects, at all sites.
• Deliver parcels on foot when vehicles are unavailable.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily.
• Maintain interior and exterior of the vehicle in safe condition.
• Perform basic maintenance like checking fluids, tires, lights.
• Perform related duties as required.
