Job summary

The City of Sanford, NC is seeking a detail-oriented Distribution & Collections Coordinator to oversee water and wastewater line operations. The role requires knowledge of repair, maintenance, rehabilitation and construction practices, and the ability to prepare detailed reports and correspondence.

A valid NC driver’s license is required at hire, along with certifications to be obtained or possessed upon hire, and a background aligned with public service responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration, or related field.
• Moderate experience in the maintenance, repair and/or construction of water and wastewater lines.
• Possession of a valid NC driver’s license upon hire; certification requirements must be met or obtained upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of the theory, processes, methods, techniques and practices used in repair, maintenance, rehabilitation and construction of water and wastewater lines.
• Prepare correspondence and detailed technical reports; use standard office equipment and software.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, engineers, state officials, contractors, vendors, elected officials and the general public.

Distribution & Collections Coordinator- Sanford location

We are looking for a detailed individual who possesses thorough knowledge of the theory, processes, methods, techniques and practices used in the repair, maintenance, rehabilitation and construction of water and wastewater lines, the machines, tools, equipment and materials used in operation, maintenance and repair of water and wastewater systems, the mechanical and hydraulic engineering principles involved in water and wastewater operation; comprehensive knowledge in preparing correspondence, detailed and complex technical reports, the use of standard office equipment and associated software; ability to make arithmetic computations, perform cost analysis calculations, compute rates, ratios and percentages, establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, engineers, State officials, contractors, vendors, elected officials and the general public.

Special Requirements

The position requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration, or related field and moderate experience in the maintenance, repair and/or construction of water and wastewater lines. Possession of a valid NC driver’s license upon hire. Possession of NC Grade III Water Pollution Control Collections System Operator, Cross Connection Control System Operator, and “A” Distribution Water Distribution Operator certifications upon hire or must have the ability to obtain. Must meet and maintain all certification, license and training requirements for position.
