Job summary

Allied-Building-Stores, Inc. in Monroe, LA is seeking an Industrial Maintenance & Facilities Custodian to join our team.

You will perform light and heavy industrial cleaning, building upkeep, and groundskeeping to keep our offices, distribution center, and door plant running safely and efficiently. You will work independently or with a team, uphold strict safety standards, and proactively assist where needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial cleaning, warehouse maintenance, or facilities upkeep is a strong plus.
• Strict adherence to OSHA regulations and PPE.
• Dependable and able to work independently with initiative.
• Ability to lift and move heavy items and perform physical tasks.
• Willing to undergo forklift operation training and certification.

Responsibilities

• General Maintenance & Repairs: replace ceiling tiles and light bulbs, patch drywall, paint, pressure wash, and minor repairs.
• Facility & Grounds Upkeep: sweep aisles, maintain parking lots, empty trash, and manage outdoor debris.
• Specialized Tasks: operate a SawTrax machine to cut wood inventory and build shipping pallets.
• Custodial Relief: clean and sanitize offices, break rooms, restrooms, and restock supplies.
• Forklift Operations: safely operate and inspect forklifts; training provided.

About the Role

ABS is seeking a dependable, self-motivated Industrial Maintenance & Facilities Custodian to join our team in Monroe. In this role, you will perform both light and heavy industrial cleaning, building maintenance, and groundskeeping to keep our corporate offices, distribution center, and door plant running safely, cleanly, and efficiently.

Whether you are working independently or collaborating with a team, you take pride in your work, practice strict safety standards, and proactively step in to help where needed.

Key Responsibilities

• General Maintenance & Repairs: Perform building upkeep, including replacing ceiling tiles and light bulbs, patching drywall, painting, pressure washing, and basic asphalt/concrete repairs.

• Facility & Grounds Upkeep: Sweep and clean distribution aisles, maintain parking lots and walkways, empty trash and recycling, and manage outdoor cigarette disposal and debris.

• Specialized Tasks: Operate a SawTrax machine to cut wood inventory ("Cutwood"), build custom shipping pallets, and safely transport documents or supplies between departments.

• Custodial Relief: Clean and sanitize offices, break rooms, and restrooms, and restock supplies as needed.

• Forklift Operations: Safely operate and inspect forklifts (company training and certification provided).

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Previous experience in industrial cleaning, warehouse maintenance, or general facilities upkeep is a strong plus.

• Safety First: Strict adherence to OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Work Ethic: Highly dependable, capable of working independently with minimal supervision, and able to take initiative.

• Physical Requirements: Ability to handle heavy industrial cleaning, lift supplies/furniture, and perform physical tasks (standing, bending, lifting, pressure washing).

• Certifications: Must be willing to undergo company training and certification for forklift operation.
