Job summary

Crate and Barrel is seeking a Facilities Custodian to maintain a clean, safe distribution center environment. You will perform day-to-day upkeep, operate walk-behind scrubbers and vacuums, and ensure equipment is stored properly.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year janitorial experience, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask across departments. This role requires physical stamina and adherence to safety guidelines and company policies.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of related housekeeping/janitorial experience preferred.
• Ability to operate power cleaning equipment as listed in job duties.
• Physically capable of repetitive walking, standing, lifting, and climbing stairs.
• Knowledge of janitorial supplies, chemicals, and safety procedures.
• Basic English language proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Distribution/Crossdock areas to company cleanliness standards with minimal supervision.
• Operate power cleaning equipment (walk-behind scrubbers, polishers, vacuums, pressure washers).
• Perform outside maintenance and grounds work as needed.
• Ensure equipment is cleaned and stored after use.
• Notify leadership about major repairs to buildings or equipment.
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Empty wastebaskets and trash/recycling bins and transport waste to disposal area.
• Replenish bathroom supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, etc.
• Maintain cleanliness of common areas including kitchens and breakrooms.
• Rotate through different departments to meet business demands.
• Participate in ongoing training regarding technology upgrades and new systems.
• Perform tasks to achieve daily productivity and quality goals.

A day in the life as a Facilities Custodian...

• Ensures the Distribution/Crossdock operations areas are maintained to company cleanliness standards with minimal supervision
• Uses Power equipment which consists of walk-behind scrubbers, power scrubber/polisher, Wet/Dry vacuum cleaners, portable as well as stationary power pressure washer
• Performs outside maintenance, including grounds work, as needed
• Ensures equipment is cleaned and stored properly following use
• Notifies appropriate personnel concerning the need for major repairs to building operating systems or equipment
• Requisitions supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
• Empties wastebaskets and trash/recycling bins in the kitchen and office areas and transports waste to the disposal area
• Replenishes bathroom supplies such as; paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, hand sanitizer, air freshener, etc.
• Maintains the cleanliness of common areas including the kitchen and breakroom areas by cleaning, wiping, or polishing the following areas and others as needed: refrigerators, microwaves, toaster ovens, glass windows, cabinets, countertops, glass windows, doors, mirrors, displays, and hanging pictures
• Rotates through different departments, as necessary, to meet the demands of the business
• Participates in ongoing training regarding technology upgrades and new systems applicable to the position
• Performs all job tasks assigned by the leadership staff to achieve and maintain daily productivity and quality goals

What you'll bring to the table...

• Ability to use Power equipment such as walk-behind scrubbers, power scrubber/polisher, Wet/Dry vacuum cleaners, portable as well as stationary power pressure washer
• Work is physically demanding requiring concentration, visual and auditory acuity, muscle coordination, attention to detail, and constant awareness of work surrounding, walking, standing, climbing stairs
• Ability to perform multiple tasks that require repetitive motion
• Remains knowledgeable of janitorial supplies and chemicals, including hazardous materials
• Possess a complete understanding of training and communication resources relevant to the position
• Maintains an awareness of loss prevention, security and safety following the guidelines as outlined in the Company Code of Conduct and Associate Policy manuals
• Basic English Language proficiency preferred
