JCG in Lynchburg, VA is seeking a Distribution Center Operations Supervisor to lead and develop hourly associates within a fast-paced distribution environment. You will guide coaching, facilitation of change, and resolution of associate concerns to improve wellbeing and productivity.

The role requires a degree or equivalent experience and supervisory background in a DC setting, with strong leadership, communication, and analytical abilities to drive throughput and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Two-year or four-year college degree in management, business administration or related field, or two to five years of related field experience.
  • Prior supervisory experience in a Distribution Center environment.
  • Experience with the implementation of a new WMS preferred.
  • Knowledge of Distribution operations (material handling equipment) and merchandise flow.
  • Strong leadership abilities and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Analytical and mathematical skills; ability to interpret data and make decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with WMS and HR/payroll systems.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor staff levels to ensure flow of merchandise through the department to meet deadlines.
  • Ensure flow of merchandise within department to maximize throughput and productivity.
  • Coordinate the daily processing of department under direct supervision.
  • Monitor budget and payroll information (Earned/Burned report).
  • Identify, coach, train and promote associates with supervisor potential.
  • Evaluate direct reports' performance using mid-year and year-end objectives; provide timely feedback.
  • Maintain associate records (time statements, PTO, attendance tracking).
  • Keep open lines of communication to associates; contribute cost-saving ideas.

Distribution Center Operations Supervisor (Lynchburg, VA)

Overview:

Provide motivational leadership and facilitate change. Guides the coaching and development of our hourly associates. Supports, advises, and facilitates resolution of associate concerns and issues.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor staff levels to ensure flow of merchandise through the department to meet deadlines

  • Coordinate the daily processing of department under his/her direct report
  • Monitor budget and payroll information of departments (Earned/Burned report)
  • Identify, coach, train and promote associate with supervisor potential
  • Evaluate and discuss each direct reports job performance using objectives set at mid-year and year-end review
  • Provide timely and accurate feedback to direct reports
  • Maintain associate records (time statements, PA’s, PTO and attendance tracking, etc.)
  • Keep open lines of communication to associates
  • Contribute cost saving ideas on a continuous basis
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required by Manager/Director
Qualifications:

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access) WMS, and Workday or some other payroll/HR system
Physical Requirements:
  • Lift, carry, push, pull, reach, grasp, bend, stoop and climb for up to 10 hours at a time
  • Climb stairs
  • Stand for duration of work shift and walk/move continuously
  • Work around moving machinery/equipment
  • Adjust to climate changes; hot and cold extremes may occur in warehouse
  • Perform frequent/reoccurring movement (folding, hanging clothing, wrapping, packing, closing, ticketing, etc.)
  • Lift up to 50 pounds several times per day; weight requirements may vary within work areas; perform overhead lifting as necessary
  • Work comfortably on open platform/loft areas that are elevated to a second or third story level
