Job summary

Steel & O'Brien Manufacturing seeks an experienced Distribution Center Manager to lead operations at our DCC Hub, supporting parts distribution and fabrication for multiple U.S. sites.

You will oversee inbound receiving, inventory, outbound shipping, and production support while guiding onsite teams toward safety, quality, and on-time delivery in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or a related field.
• 7–10 years of leadership experience in distribution, warehousing, manufacturing, or supply chain.
• Experience managing a distribution/fulfillment center with salaried reports.
• Experience with ERP/WMS systems and warehouse operations.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and cross-functional communication skills.

Distribution Center Manager

Position Summary

We’re seeking an experienced Distribution Center Manager to lead operations at our DCC Hub, supporting parts distribution and small-scale fabrication for multiple U.S. manufacturing sites.

This role oversees inbound receiving, inventory and warehouse operations, outbound shipping, production support, and fabrication/assembly while leading onsite teams. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on operations leader who can drive safety, quality, inventory accuracy, continuous improvement, and on‑time delivery in a fast‑paced environment.

What You’ll Do

• Lead daily distribution center operations, including domestic and international container receiving, warehousing, inventory control, outbound pallet shipments, and fabrication/assembly.
• Ensure operational readiness to meet manufacturing schedules and internal and external customer delivery requirements.
• Optimize warehouse layout, storage, dock operations, and material flow.
• Lead, coach, and develop inbound, outbound, warehouse, and production support teams.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, training, and employee performance while building a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and transaction integrity within ERP/WMS systems, including cycle counts, reconciliation, and material traceability.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain, Procurement, and Manufacturing to maintain product availability and support production.
• Manage inbound/outbound transportation, carrier coordination, and timely shipment of materials, components, and finished goods.
• Lead Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
• Monitor operational KPIs, identify performance gaps, and implement corrective actions.
• Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, and Manufacturing.
• Lead safety initiatives, audits, and corrective actions while ensuring compliance with OSHA, company standards, and EHS requirements.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 7–10 years of leadership experience in distribution, warehouse, manufacturing, or supply chain operations.
• Experience managing a distribution center, fulfillment center, or warehouse operation with direct and indirect salaried reports required.
• Distribution Center Manager or Outbound Operations Manager experience in manufacturing or high-volume shipping preferred.
• Experience supporting manufacturing production environments strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of inventory management, shipping/receiving, logistics, and warehouse operations.
• Experience with ERP/WMS systems and Microsoft Office.
• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Working Conditions

• Frequent walking, standing, and movement throughout the facility.
• Exposure to warehouse equipment, varying temperatures, and industrial environments.
