Accurate Personnel in Hartford, CT is seeking a Distribution Center Manager to oversee daily warehouse operations, align with financial goals, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

You will lead 50–100 staff across 4–12 department managers, manage workforce planning, inventory accuracy, and cross-functional workflows in a 24/7, exempt environment with rotating shifts. Strong leadership and organizational skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage warehouse layout, storage strategies, and space utilization based on product turnover, size, and handling requirements.
  • Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and cost controls for the distribution center.
  • Design, implement, and monitor production and labor planning to meet operational targets.
  • Provide direction to employees on proper handling, storage, maintenance, and shipping of materials.
  • Review and analyze inventory and stock control records; recommend corrective action for slow-moving, excess, or obsolete inventory.
  • Ensure accuracy of inventory records and verify compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate cycle counts, audits, and periodic physical inventories; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Establish work procedures, staffing schedules, and workflow processes to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Issue instructions, assign duties, and enforce policies and procedures across all warehouse departments.
  • Standardize operational processes to improve performance, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Foster a positive work environment, address employee concerns, and resolve grievances as needed.
  • Manage and develop 4–12 departmental managers and a workforce of 50–100 employees.
  • Oversee performance reviews, training programs, coaching, disciplinary actions, and operational compliance.
  • Lead cross-functional communication and ensure timely execution of customer and internal requirements.

Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Schedule: 24/7 operation; schedules vary by volume and client needs. Weekend availability required.

Job Purpose

The Distribution Center Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily warehouse operations, ensuring alignment with organizational financial goals, productivity expectations, and compliance standards. This role manages workforce planning, inventory accuracy, workflow efficiency, and operational execution across all departments within the facility.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or sit for long periods.
  • Must be able to move throughout all warehouse areas, including elevated workspaces.
  • Work may take place in environments with fluctuating temperatures.
  • Safe operation around heavy warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, clamps, and scissor lifts is required.
