Job summary

PORTER PIPE & SUPPLY in Indianapolis seeks a General Manager to lead the Distribution Center, drive sales, profitability, and market share, and ensure operational excellence. You will supervise DC leadership, align capacity with customer needs, and manage safety and compliance across the facility.

You will collaborate with sales and finance to optimize performance, develop leaders, and promote the company culture while stewarding core values and delivering strong financial results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
• Minimum 7 years in distribution/warehouse operations with 3+ years in management.
• P&L responsibility and budget management experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with operational KPIs across safety, productivity, and on-time delivery.
• Experience with ERP/WMS systems and distribution management.
• PVF industry or wholesale/industrial distribution experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides strategic and operational leadership for the Indianapolis Distribution Center.
• Maintains P&L ownership, budget oversight, and financial performance.
• Leads, coaches, and develops DC managers and frontline leaders.
• Oversees warehouse operations, dispatch, counter sales, and related functions.
• Partners with CFO/VP Operations to drive growth and priorities.
• Drives continuous improvement and aligns capacity with customer needs.
• Ensures safe, compliant operations and clear communication of priorities.
