Position Purpose

The DC Area Supervisor leads an hourly team and influences the entire distribution team to do the fast-paced work required to run the distribution center as efficiently, safely, and productively as possible. This role handles management responsibilities for team members under supervision, ensuring prompt, efficient, and accurate handling of merchandise, and developing team goals. Responsibilities include hiring, evaluation, development, discipline, and termination of hourly associates. The role manages 20 to 30 hourly associates.

Key Responsibilities

1. Managing Process (45%): Ensures all operations procedures are followed effectively, recommends changes to optimize processes, and evaluates work methods to eliminate inefficiencies.
2. Coaching and Developing Associates (25%): Guides associates, monitors productivity, safety, service, and quality; responsible for training, coaching, feedback, evaluations, and resolving associate relations issues.
3. Drives Results (15%): Maintains inventory accuracy, reviews reports, and identifies improvements for key metrics like productivity, accuracy, quality, and expenses.
4. Business Planning (15%): Coordinates operations to meet performance targets, reviews reports, and plans staffing needs.
5. Additional Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Management Structure

• Reports to the Operations Manager.
• Supervises 20-30 hourly associates, including hiring, performance reviews, and professional development.

Travel and Physical Requirements

• Overnight travel less than 10%.
• Physical exertion such as walking, standing, lifting, and climbing may be required.

Work Conditions

• Indoor environment, infrequent unpleasant conditions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 18 or older, authorized to work in the U.S., flexible with shifts, and able to relocate.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, computer skills, warehouse management systems experience, 3+ years supervisory experience.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED; 2 years of work experience.
