Job summary

9fin is seeking a corporate finance attorney to join our New York team. With 5+ years in leveraged finance or capital markets, you will review high‑yield and loan documents and contribute to distress-focused coverage while collaborating with credit analysts and journalists.

You will operate in a rapidly growing startup environment, combining legal expertise with technology and finance insight, with hybrid work options and opportunities to influence liability management and restructurings.

Qualifications

• JD with 5+ years in capital solutions, leveraged finance or restructuring teams.
• Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating high yield/loan documents and restructuring agreements.
• Strong commercial awareness of leveraged finance and restructuring markets.
• Solid understanding of covenants and definitions in leveraged finance.
• Existing network within the leveraged finance community; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review leveraged finance and high yield documentation and provide analysis.
• Write reports on distressed scenarios and collaborate with lawyers and credit analysts.
• Answer client questions about covenant packages of borrowers and issuers.
• Utilize 9fin’s technology to build and expand restructuring databases.
• Deliver seminars, teach-ins and podcasts as a subject matter expert.
• Represent 9fin in press, conferences and industry events.
