California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) seeks a Distance Education Technician to provide specialized technical support for the MSW Distance Education Program. The role focuses on coordinating and executing instructionally related teleconferences via Zoom, ensuring reliable connections between on-campus and off-campus sites.

The ideal candidate will test connections, manage content sharing, support faculty, and maintain VTC systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent
• Six months of related professional or technical experience
• Two years’ experience in higher education, education technology, or technology field preferred
• Experience with interactive audio-video communication technology hardware and software (e.g., video conferencing systems) preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to faculty during teleconferences (pre-test connections, monitor reception, manage content sharing)
• Set teleconference schedules, email participants, and upload content for each class
• Ensure reliable call connectivity with off-campus participants and back-up sites
• Perform systems testing with external VTC bridging entities and site IT staff
• Provide training to faculty on distance education technology and VTC systems
• Act as centralized VTC network maintenance focal point and coordinate with in-house resources
• Troubleshoot school audio/visual systems and stay updated on education technology
• Track, document, and report VTC utilization and trends
• Provide support for desktop video conferencing as needed
• Ensure safe hardware setup for video-enabled meetings and accessibility accommodations
