A&O Shearman in New York invites an experienced Business Development Manager for the Disputes practice to guide strategy, client targeting, and market initiatives.

You will work with partners across the U.S. offices, coordinate proposals, events, media opportunities, and thought leadership to expand revenues.

This is a partner-facing role offering exposure to a global platform with competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.

Competenze

• Minimum of 5 years of legal or professional services experience in a high-paced environment.
• Willingness and enthusiasm to develop an in-depth understanding of the Disputes sectors, with experience in these sectors preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; high attention to detail and strong client focus.
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills - with partners, key associates, and business development colleagues, and clients, including selling concepts and presenting to senior management.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively while working on multiple conflicting deadlines.
• Experience with budgeting, including writing business cases, is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Bachelor’s degree required.

• Practice strategy, planning and execution: work with attorneys to develop and implement BD strategy and plans for each partner and their practices.
• Pitches, proposals and credentials: create competitive proposals, credentials, pitches, and presentations with attorneys.
• Cross-practice and cross-office integration: coordinate projects across the firm and develop new opportunities.
• Market research: research existing and prospective clients and market issues; advise on marketing strategies.
• Marketing discussion and review: organize meetings to review progress on marketing projects and client targeting.
• Profile/PR: work with PR to spot opportunities and maintain press coverage; draft entries for directories.
• Sponsorships and client events: identify and coordinate firm sponsorships and plan client events.
• Expertise database: maintain records and disseminate information about matters.
