Job summary

Wayne Transports, Inc. in Wisconsin seeks a Dispatcher to coordinate drivers, trucks, and equipment for efficient service. This in-office role, Monday–Friday, includes on-call evenings and weekends to manage loads and driver communications.

You will confirm load details with customers, relay delivery instructions, and ensure the right equipment is assigned. Strong communication and computer skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with drivers throughout the day to gather load information.
• Liaise with customers repeatedly to collect data about loads.
• Provide drivers with delivery details, loads, equipment, and supplier/contract references.
• Ensure drivers have the required equipment to complete loads.
• Assist drivers with routes to customer locations in the Midwest and Canada.
• Utilize transportation software to create and update loads per requests.
• Update payments for drivers for ancillary pay like layovers and empty miles.
• Speak professionally with customers about loads and timings.
• Maintain general English communication with dispatch teams, customers, and loaders.

Job description

JOB TITLE: Dispatcher

DESCRIPTION: Coordinate drivers, trucks and equipment to create capacity, maximize productivity and ensure prompt, courteous and efficient service to customers. Reviews and audits driver trip sheets for load accuracy and then enters load information into computer system. Communicate delays, issues, or concerns regarding customer load requests. This is an in-office position Monday through Friday and also on-call evenings and weekends.

RESPONSBILITIES:

• Communicates with drivers multiple times throughout the day to collect information about the load they are hauling or have hauled.
• Talks to customers multiple times throughout the day for collecting information about the load we are hauling or have hauled for them.
• Provides drivers with information on what delivery they are going to make next, what products they are going to load, where they are going to load it, what supplier/Contract# the driver needs to use, and what time the load is supposed to load and deliver at.
• Acquires in-depth knowledge on what the load requires and to ensure the driver has the right equipment to do the load.
• Assists drivers with specific instructions on how to get to numerous customer locations throughout the Midwest and Canada.
• Utilizes TMW transportation logistics software to create new loads per customer requests and update cancellations to the team.
• Updates TMW transportation logistics software to pay drivers for ancillary pay such as empty miles, split deliveries, layovers and more.
• Talks to customers professionally and courteously on what loads they want us to haul, lets them know when we can haul it for them and how many pounds we can haul.
• General knowledge of Hazmat products and placards the driver will be using.
• Ability to use a computer proficiently in order to effectively receive loads via fax, emails, or phone calls.
• Able to work as a team with a great attitude towards co-workers to efficiently dispatch our fleet of trucks.
• General conversations in English with dispatchers, customers, and loaders to accommodate their needs.
