Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston is seeking a full-time Dispatcher to receive and dispatch requests for assistance within the Southwest hospital. The Dispatcher assists in coordinating Patient Escorts/Transporters throughout the facility and supports patient transport duties as needed.

Shifts run 7:00 am–7:30 pm, with every Sat and Sun, plus an additional weekday. Requires a high school diploma, ability to communicate effectively, 1 year dispatch experience, and registration with the

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or GED.
• Licenses/Certifications: For security dispatchers, ability to be registered with the Texas Private Security Board within 14 days of hire date.
• Experience / Knowledge / Skills: One (1) year experience as a dispatcher/scheduler.
• Ability to effectively communicate and follow oral and written instructions.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Disseminates information received via telephone, radio, from persons, alarms or as observed on CCTV.
• Prioritizes and assigns calls according to the urgency of the call and the expertise of the personnel available.
• Maintains computerized logs and records, produces spreadsheets and reports as necessary.
• Ensures safe care to patients, adhering to policies, procedures, and standards, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.
• Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
