Summary
This role on the Jarco Aggregates team involves entering customer orders into the delivery system accurately, promptly, and professionally. The dispatcher should be a good problem solver, foster lasting customer relationships, and aim to deliver high customer service levels. Work is performed under the supervision of the manager, with independence for routine tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan daily load activities and assign work to drivers/independent contractors.
- Coordinate with the sales team to meet customer loading and delivery demands.
- Address problems and requests via phone and electronic messaging.
- Monitor truck routes and statuses to coordinate and prioritize schedules.
- Provide real-time information about orders, traffic, obstacles, and customer requirements.
- Maintain dispatch records, load activity, and other data entries.
- Interact professionally with drivers, acting as an advocate and coach.
- Monitor drivers’ hours of service and adjust dispatch instructions accordingly.
- Promote safety, compliance, and productivity as a coach, counselor, and mentor.
- Assist field operations and other departments as needed.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Follow all company policies and safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support team operations.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience in dispatching material hauling or similar industry experience.
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and dispatch software.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations for drivers.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Organizational and analytical skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective decision-making skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with good time management.
- Ability to multi-task and resolve conflicts effectively.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- 4-5 years of material hauler/dispatch experience.
- 2-3 years in a dispatch supervisor role.
- Customer service experience for at least 2 years.
- Computer literacy for at least 6 years.
- Valid driver’s license with endorsements and a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 35 lbs.
- Work hours up to 10-12 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays.
- Sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the facility regularly.
Work Environment
- Location: Corporate Headquarters.
- Background checks and drug testing required.
- May be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, and oils.
- May require working hours outside of regular schedule.
