Job summary

Plains is seeking a dispatcher to direct and service customer call-ins and dispatch drivers as needed. The role includes preparing reports, using a computer-based ticketing system, and reporting to the Field Supervisor and/or District Manager.

After training, the incumbent will record loads, manage driver dispatch, and maintain logs and tickets, ensuring accurate and timely updates, with attention to lease details and DOT compliance.

Summary

Able to direct and service customer call‑ins and dispatch drivers as needed. Prepares reports, utilizes computer‑based ticketing system and reports to the Field Supervisor and/or District Manager.

Responsibilities
  • After Initial training period, qualified to take call‑ins from customers, dispatch them appropriately and record turned in loads.
  • Corrects issues with driver’s logs in Xata application.
  • Schedule drivers/trucks to meter provings and trucks.
  • May sort run tickets, DOT logs and other office paperwork.
  • Use computer to hand enter loads called in, loads dispatched to drivers and any other required data related to dispatch.
  • Uses Computer to look up lease numbers, tank numbers, leases by name, operator number, barrel flow by destination, tickets by ticket number and by destination.
  • Dispatchers are also responsible for staying up to date with lease severances relating to State Oil and Gas Boards approval to haul.
  • Prepares morning reports related to over 48 hours, dropped loads, loads hauled, and any other reports related to dispatch or company business.
  • Track and file reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Extensive interaction with customers relating to call‑ins, coordinating leases to be hauled in a timely manner, ensuring that special instructions about leases are recorded and disseminated and resolving disputes over tickets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and relevant to operations of the company.
  • Demonstrate a positive impact by promoting safety in decisions and actions.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Interacts with the public, management, marketing and drivers.
  • Great customer and personal relations skills required.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Basic math, keyboard skills, and knowledge of office procedures with responsible work habits.
  • Utilizes 10‑key calculator, multi‑line telephone system, copy, fax machines and computers.
  • Demonstrates conceptual thinking, strong planning, coordinating, problem solving skills, and multitasking abilities.
  • Office environment, low physical activity, some light lifting.
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.
  • Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre‑employment D&A testing.
