Job description

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Operate the highly technical Communications Center for the entire Marquette University Police Department.
  2. Enter and retrieve criminal justice/law enforcement and statistical information from computerized data sources and external sites.
  3. Coordinate emergency and non-emergency responses to crime, medical, or fire-related incidents. Work with and direct all municipal emergency response units to the scene.
  4. Monitor campus alarm systems, security/surveillance cameras, and emergency telephones. Detect and report criminal activities to deter incidents.
  5. Provide directions to campus visitors and assist walk-in victims of crime or individuals with safety and security concerns.
  6. Maintain emergency and non-emergency information binders and databases to ensure current listings and response procedures.
  7. Assist with parking assignments, special requests, permissions, and complaints.
  8. Provide logistical support for the Parking and Traffic Division and administrative areas as required.
OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, diplomacy, and tact in dealing with sensitive situations. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment independently. Must interact professionally with diverse publics, possess accurate typing skills, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work under stressful conditions, read and understand maps and directions, and be familiar with computers, especially data entry. Commitment to providing top-quality customer service is essential. Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime hours.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Familiarity with criminal justice/law enforcement systems, including the TIME system, and CJIS security requirements is preferred.
