Job summary

As a Dispatcher, you will communicate with drivers to resolve on-route issues, schedule service changes, and coordinate with customers, sales and operations staff.

You will use GFL software to enter tickets, track productivity, and help optimize routes while maintaining professional communication.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school. Post-secondary courses or diploma would be considered an asset.
• 1-2 years in a transportation, dispatch or customer service role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong customer focus.
• Proven ability to multi-task & prioritize tasks.
• Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word.
• Knowledge of TRUX system is an asset; if not, ability to learn quickly.
• Willingness to work extended hours including weekends.
• Additional training in transportation or logistics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Schedule service and satisfy customer needs for service changes in line with policies.
• Dispatch calls to routes based on designated route and driver location.
• Perform driver check-ins at day’s end for complete paperwork.
• Distribute, collect and review route sheets for end-of-day data entry.
• Coordinate with other departments to resolve service issues.
• May take on additional tasks as directed by the Operations Manager.
• Interact with customers, sales and Operations staff reporting to the Operations Manager.
• Work with routing specialists to optimize routes.
• Field incoming calls and emails from customers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve delivery/pickup problems to prevent service issues.
• Assist in determining daily driver staffing levels for responsiveness and productivity.
• Record and share information from drivers with appropriate departments.
• Communicate with maintenance shop personnel.
• Communicate professionally via email, phone and two-way devices.

Job description

A Dispatcher is required to communicate with drivers to assist with problem resolution while on route. Furthermore, handling incoming service orders, directs drivers, and resolves service issues. Interacts with customers, including customer service, sales, and operational staff. Key Responsibilities

• Schedule service and satisfy customer needs for service changes. Ensure that service is completed in accordance with established policies.

• Records and document information from drivers and distributes to appropriate departments.
• Communicates with maintenance shop personnel.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally via email, telephone and two way devices.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

• Completion of high school. Post-secondary courses or diploma would be considered an asset.
• 1-2 years in a transportation, dispatch or customer service role.

• Possess TRUX experience but not mandatory, if not possess desire and ability to learn TRUX system, needs to possess advanced computer skills.
• Additional or specialized training in transportation, logistics, or similar area of study; customer service experience in a call center environment.
