Job summary

MTM Transit is seeking a Dispatcher in Scottsdale, AZ to direct day-to-day route and trip operations, ensuring safety, on-time performance and cost-efficiency. You will monitor drivers, communicate issues, and maintain records, reporting to the manager per MTM procedures.

The role requires coordinating with drivers and transportation providers, with a focus on timely routes, problem resolution, and service quality. Starting pay is $23.50 per hour and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required and background/MVR checks to pass.
• Minimum 2+ years in transportation routing, dispatching, scheduling.
• 1 year experience with applicable transit scheduling system.
• Knowledge of GPS and GIS systems preferred.
• Ability to communicate, teach and mentor employees.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all phone calls and dispatching of rides.
• Organize and route trips to ensure optimal performance.
• Provide directions and assistance to drivers.
• Address scheduling issues and provide timely solutions.
• Maintain communication with transportation providers.
• Record incidents and report to manager.
• Document provider no-shows and on-time performance.
• Inform providers of next-day trips and new trips.
• Monitor radio/phones for service quality.
• Record departure times, destinations and return estimates.
• Provide performance feedback to drivers.

What will your job look like?

The Dispatcher works to direct the day-to-day route and trip operations. Assists with organizing and conducting activities to assure safe, cost-effective, on-time operating performance, tracks and reports sign-in and sign-out times, assure routes are timely, and communicate service issues to the appropriate personnel. This work is done in compliance with the procedures defined by the client and in conformance with company procedures, which involves daily communication and interaction with drivers and monitors (as applicable).

What You’ll Do (Essential Functions)

• Assist with all phone call information and dispatching of rides

• Organize and route trips based on schedule and location to ensure optimal performance

• Provide assistance to drivers for directions to destinations

• Assist drivers and transportation providers with problems or issues relating to scheduling

• Establish and maintain effective communication with transportation providers

• Report and record all incidents to the applicable manager

• Document and report provider no shows or on-time-performance issues

• Inform transportation providers of their next-days trips and any new trips that occur

• Monitor radio, telephones and on-road provision of service for quality

• Record time of departure, destination, and expected time of return

• Provide feedback on drivers’ performance

What We’re Looking For (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

• Experience working in a supervisory role preferred

• Knowledge of DOT and FTA safety regulations preferred

• Thorough knowledge of accident investigation preferred

• Knowledge of Safety and training practices and procedures

• Ability to communicate, teach and mentor employees

• Must be able to demonstrate conflict resolution skills

• Quick to process information and make adjustments or recommendations

• Skills in the use of computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel and other Microsoft applications

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent

• Must pass criminal background check and investigation & Motor Vehicle Record check

• Possess valid authorization to work in the United States

• 2+ years in transportation routing, dispatching, and scheduling expertise preferred

• 1 year experience working with the applicable transit scheduling system preferred

• Knowledge of GPS and GIS systems preferred
