Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking aDispatcher to serve as the nerve center of our daily waste collection operations in Gainesville, FL. You will coordinate with route drivers, leadership, and customer service to keep routes running smoothly and our customers satisfied.

This fast-paced role requires quick decision-making, strong multitasking, and clear communication across teams. A high school diploma is required with 1–2 years in transportation or dispatch preferred.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years in transportation or dispatch roles.
• Experience with TRUX is a plus or quick learner.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Dynamic Fleet Dispatching: monitor live routes and direct drivers to optimize schedules.
• Rapid Problem Solving: troubleshoot delays before they become issues.
• End-of-Day Check-Ins & Audits: review route sheets for accuracy and complete tickets.
• Cross-Department Communication: coordinate across operations, customer service, sales and maintenance.

About the Role

In this role, no two days are the same. You will be the primary link between our route drivers, operational leadership, and customer service teams—making real-time decisions that keep our fleet running efficiently and our customers satisfied. Key Responsibilities

• Dynamic Fleet Dispatching: Monitor live routes and direct drivers using GFL proprietary software and TRUX to optimize daily pickup schedules and navigate real-time route adjustments.
• Rapid Problem Solving: Act as the first line of defense for on-the-road challenges—troubleshooting delivery/service delays before they turn into customer issues.
• End-of-Day Check-Ins & Audits: Conduct thorough driver check-ins, collect and review route sheets for data accuracy, and ensure all daily ticket entry requirements are completed.
• Cross-Department Communication: Maintain clear, prompt communication via phone, email, and two-way radio across operations, customer service, sales, and shop maintenance teams.
• Staffing & Efficiency: Collaborate with routing specialists and operations managers to fine-tune daily routes, optimize staffing levels, and maintain peak productivity.

What We’re Looking For

• Fast-Paced Decision Maker: Quick thinking, strong situational awareness, and the ability to make confident operational calls on the fly.
• Master Multitasker: Proven ability to manage high-volume calls, monitor route tracking software, and handle incoming driver requests simultaneously without missing a beat.
• Industry or Logistics Experience: 1–2 years in transportation, dispatch, or customer-facing operations. Experience with TRUX software is a strong plus (or a quick readiness to learn).
• Tech-Savvy: Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and comfortable adapting quickly to proprietary dispatch platforms.
• Solid Communicator: Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-first mindset and a clear, professional communication style across two-way devices and phones.
• Education: High school diploma required; post‑secondary education or logistics training is an asset.
