RGM Transport’s Dispatch Department is responsible for coordinating and scheduling the transportation

of our customers’ goods by trucks. We specialize in over-the-road transportation in the heavy haul

trucking industry, serving 49 states and Canada. The Dispatch team must ensure that all shipments are

delivered on time and in accordance with customer requirements; communicate with truck drivers and

customers to ensure that shipments are picked up and delivered on schedule; and track shipments and

maintain accurate records of all transactions. This vital position requires strong organizational and

communication skills, as well as the ability to function effectively under pressure while maintaining a

positive teamwork approach.

Fleet Manager Job Description

RGM Transport’s Fleet Manager is responsible for the efficient and safe operations of RGM’s fleet, as well

as overseeing and stewarding RGM’s team of drivers. The Fleet Manager reports to the Load Planner

and works closely with other team members, as well as drivers and customers, to ensure timely delivery

of goods. This is a supervisory, salaried position.

This role’s success is primarily measured in meeting or exceeding driver retention guidelines, driver and

truck safety and compliance standards, and departmental KPIs.

Fleet Manager Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee a team of drivers and logistics personnel.
• Show genuine care and consideration for RGM’s driving team, creating opportunities for each

driver to positively interact with management and the overall team on a frequent basis, discuss

and understand the expectations of their role, and have a sounding board for questions,

improvements, and concerns.

• Design and implement strategic plans to improve driver retention, to reach the goal of 100%

retention by 2030, in conjunction with RGM’s leadership team and driving team.

• Be actively available to assist the Dispatch Department personnel, Arizona branch manager, and

drivers on a daily basis.

• Engage in proactive daily interactions with all RGM drivers, efficiently relaying information to and

from the drivers, Dispatcher, and customers; ensure drivers have the necessary information and

resources to complete their routes.

• Address, troubleshoot, and resolve driver issues and delivery-related customer complaints in a

timely manner.

• Recruit, train, and manage drivers, ensuring adherence to proper licensing, safe driving

standards, and RGM’s code of conduct. Assign vehicles to drivers.

• Manage all drivers’ hours according to DOT regulations. Ensure compliance with all applicable

local, state, and federal regulations. Handle accident reports.

• Schedule regular maintenance and emergency repairs on all trucks and trailers. Keep thorough

records on vehicle inspections, maintenance activities, and tags and registrations. Plan, direct,

and manage the acquisition, maintenance, repair, replacement, and disposal of vehicles.

• Manage the fleet budget for repairs and replacements; ensure proper cost management for the

department.

• Continuously evaluate and improve logistics processes to increase efficiency and productivity.

Utilize approved technology to guarantee operational efficiency and meet the department’s KPIs.

• Monitor the compliance, quality control, and assurance standards for all areas of fleet

management. Ensure maximum fuel efficiency through effective fuel management, increasing

business profits.

• Provide reports to RGM leadership and other departments related to budgeting, schedules.

• Dispatch Department Requirements and Qualifications for All Roles
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in related transportation or sales & management roles
• Supervisory Roles (Load Planner, Backhaul Coordinator, and Fleet Manager) must have

minimum 2 years’ experience in personnel management

• Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work calmly and effectively in a fast-paced environment; to handle stressful situations
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to take initiative and responsibility; to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of transportation regulations and laws; of geography and over-the-road shipping
