Job summary

Delrecruiters is seeking an experienced Dispatch Manager to oversee day-to-day transportation and dispatch operations across New Jersey, New York City, and Connecticut. This hands-on role emphasizes driver coordination, routing, service performance, and resolving real-time delivery issues.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in trucking or last-mile logistics, strong knowledge of NYC boroughs and Tri-State area, and proven leadership.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in trucking, courier, last-mile delivery, transportation, or similar logistics operation.
• At least 2 years managing or directing drivers, dispatchers, or transportation personnel.
• Strong knowledge of NYC's 5 boroughs, New Jersey, and Connecticut, including traffic patterns and routing challenges.
• Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations, Hours of Service, vehicle inspections, and transportation compliance.
• Experience with a TMS and fleet-tracking/telematics system (Verizon Connect is a plus).

Responsibilities

• Direct and dispatch drivers across NYC's 5 boroughs, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
• Monitor routes; address late pickups, missed windows, at-risk stops, and service issues.
• Make real-time decisions on driver assignments, routing, and delivery priorities.
• Resolve issues including traffic, breakdowns, dock delays, and access problems.
• Communicate with drivers, customers, warehouse leadership, and site contacts to stay on schedule.
• Ensure accurate recording of pickups, deliveries, delays, PODs, and related data.
• Coordinate with warehouse leadership on load sizing, sequencing, and truck requirements.
• Plan the next day's operation; assign drivers, appointments, windows, and priorities.
• Manage driver schedules, PTO, coverage, timesheets, paperwork, and vehicle inspection reports.
• Lead driver meetings; set expectations on performance, service, and safety.
• Monitor driver performance and compliance; address issues as needed.
• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, coaching, and developing dispatch personnel.
• Utilize TMS and fleet-tracking technology to improve routing and dispatch efficiency.

This is a hands-on role responsible for driver coordination, routing, service performance, and resolving real-time delivery issues. The ideal candidate has experience in trucking, courier, last-mile, or a similar transportation environment and strong knowledge of the NYC 5 boroughs and Tri-State area.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and dispatch drivers throughout NYC's 5 boroughs, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
• Monitor routes and proactively address late pickups, missed delivery windows, at-risk stops, and other service issues.
• Make real-time decisions regarding driver and vehicle assignments, route changes, load sequencing, and delivery priorities.

• At least 2 years of experience managing or directing drivers, dispatchers, or transportation personnel.
• Strong knowledge of NYC's 5 boroughs, New Jersey, and Connecticut, including traffic patterns, commercial vehicle restrictions, routing challenges, and Manhattan deliveries.
• Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations, Hours of Service, vehicle inspections, and transportation compliance.
• Experience with a TMS and fleet-tracking/telematics system; Xcelerator and Verizon Connect experience is a plus.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage multiple drivers, routes, and service issues in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid driver's license.
• Flexibility to remain reachable outside normal business hours when operational issues arise.
