Responsibilities

  • Answer Emergency Line Calls – Receive and prioritize 911 and emergency medical calls in accordance with Bell Ambulance and EMD protocols.
  • Answer Crew Line – Respond to internal crew communications and relay necessary updates or information.
  • Radio Communications - Respond to any over the air communications as necessary.
  • EMD Call Taking – Utilize Emergency Medical Dispatch procedures to assess patient conditions and provide pre-arrival instructions when applicable.
  • Facility Call Taking – Receive and process transport requests from hospitals, nursing homes, and other medical facilities for both emergent and non emergent responses
  • Dispatch Logs – Accurately document all incoming call details and ensure timely distribution of dispatch logs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Work effectively with dispatchers, EMTs, paramedics, and supervisors to ensure efficient communication and dispatching of ambulances.

Hours: 8:00am to 8:00pm and 12:00pm to 12:00am

Bell Ambulance is a progressive, client-oriented company devoted to providing high-quality emergency and non-emergency medical services. Bell Ambulance has operated since 1977 and has grown into the largest ambulance service provider in Wisconsin. We are a certified and contracted provider in the City of Milwaukee 911 system. We receive more than 120,000 calls per year. We have 14 locations in southeastern Milwaukee. We provide BLS, ALS, and Critical Care services, and we currently employ more than 700 people.

Position Summary: As a Dispatch Call Taker at Bell Ambulance, you will be the first point of contact for individuals requiring emergency or medical transportation. You will be responsible for answering emergency and non-emergency calls, collecting accurate information, applying Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) protocols, and supporting crews by providing timely and clear information. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
