Job summary

  • Assess caller information and formulate an action plan.
  • Schedule and dispatch medical transports and field crews.
  • Evaluate calls to determine units and level of care.
  • Communicate with field crews in fast-paced environments.
  • Use telephones, TAC radios, computers, pagers, and text messaging to transmit information.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, customers, and other dispatchers to address issues.
  • Record and document relevant information from calls.
  • Assign priority to calls based on urgency.
  • Monitor field crew routes and status to prioritize schedules.
  • Accept payments and record information diligently.
  • Maintain accurate call logs and patient information.
  • Provide precise instructions to callers and assist with equipment issues.

Job description

What we expect from you as a Northwest Ambulance Dispatcher:

  • Assessing caller information and formulating an action plan.
  • Scheduling and dispatching medical transports and field crews to appropriate locations.
  • Evaluating call information to determine the suitable units and level of care/response.
  • Effectively conveying information to field crews in a fast-paced environment.
  • Utilizing telephones, TAC radios, computers, pagers, and text messaging to transmit information.
  • Communicating with supervisors, field crews, customers, and other dispatchers to address issues, service requests, and payments.
  • Receiving and documenting relevant information from emergency and non-emergency calls.
  • Assigning priority to calls based on urgency and importance.
  • Responding to issues and coordinating with the appropriate department or supervisor for resolution.
  • Operating and managing a multi-line phone system.
  • Efficiently operating and managing computer systems, GANTT, and CAD.
  • Maintaining accurate call logs and patient information.
  • Familiarity with dispatching procedures and guidelines for field crews.
  • Awareness of county and state protocols.
  • Creating daily schedules for field crews.
  • Monitoring field crew/rig route and status to coordinate and prioritize schedules.
  • Accepting payments and diligently recording information.
  • Managing multiple incidents simultaneously.
  • Assisting other dispatchers as required.
  • Providing precise information and instructions to callers.
  • Supporting crews in reporting malfunctioning equipment and implementing plans for replacement or repair.
  • Performing other assigned duties.

  • Medical Terminology Coursework or on-the-job experience.
  • This position is a safety conscious position and does require a drug screening prior to employment.

Regular, non-exempt field employees who are scheduled to work on designated holidays are paid a premium holiday rate of 1.5 times their regular rate for all hours worked on the holiday.

Wages

Our wage range is $31.50 - $34.49 per hour. Shifts are either 10 or 12 hours long.
