Job summary

Meridian Waste is seeking a Dispatcher to coordinate drivers, trucks and containers to maximize capacity, improve productivity and ensure prompt, courteous service to customers.

You will assign loads, route vehicles, prepare daily route schedules, maintain route documentation, and report issues to management while complying with safety policies. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience as a dispatcher or in a similar role.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Experience in the solid waste industry preferred.

Summary: The Dispatcher is responsible for the coordination of the utilization of drivers, trucks and containers to create capacity, maximize productivity and ensure prompt, courteous and efficient service to all customers.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Create and maximize capacity by ensuring productive use of all assets, equipment and drivers.
• Ensure maximum productivity by achieving or exceeding Company-established goals by successfully routing vehicles.
• Assign loads to drivers based on designated routes and driver location.
• Prepare, update, dispense and close the daily route schedule.
• Gather and maintain route sheet documentation for pick-ups (scheduled, missed, extra pick ups), route completions and driver locations.
• Ensure route completion via the driver check-in process.
• Close prior day routes by 10am (local time) within the Soft-Pak operating system.
• Courteously interact with customers, as required.
• Report driver performance issues or concerns to appropriate management for resolution.
• Follow and comply with all safety policies.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Education/ And Or Experience

• Associates Degree preferred.
• Proven experience as a dispatcher or in a similar role.
• Experience in customer service preferred.
• Microsoft Office
• Experience in the Solid Waste Industry preferred.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently within a team environment.
• Ability to complete projects and assignments with minimal direction from leadership.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Light lifting (20-25 pounds), office environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Office: Standard office equipment; work usually performed in an office setting free from any disagreeable elements.
• Travel: As required for position.
