Job summary

Meriwether Godsey is looking for a Dishwasher/Utility Steward at an independent school in Alexandria, Virginia, which educates students from ages 3 through grade 12.

You will set up and operate the dish machine, note temperatures, assist with receiving and storing food, and help keep dining areas clean to ensure uninterrupted service. The role runs Monday–Friday, 7:30 am–3:00 pm, with a pay rate of $18.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Prior dishwashing experience (1 year preferred).
• Strong work ethic in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to switch tasks as needed.
• Reliability and willingness to work in hot, humid environments.
• Ability to stand/move for long periods and lift 25 lbs.
• Adhere to company safety and sanitation procedures.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate the dish machine for cleaning and sanitizing dishes, trays, silverware, glassware, pots, and pans; scrape, separate, and organize items.
• Note and record dish-machine temperatures, reporting low temperatures or machine malfunctions immediately.
• Transport related supplies and assist in the setup of dining and serving areas.
• Clean cafeteria areas throughout and after meal periods and replenish them to ensure service without interruption.
• Set up and use a three-compartment sink for cleaning and sanitizing pots and pans.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and cafeteria areas, including sweeping, mopping floors, and removal of trash.
• Assist with receiving and storing food products and food preparation following correct food handling procedures to ensure food safety.
• Perform all duties according to food safety and sanitation best practices.
• Other duties, as assigned.
