Job summary

Meriwether Godsey is hiring a Dishwasher/Utility Steward in Philadelphia, PA to maintain sanitation of the kitchen, cafeteria, and dining areas at an independent Pre-K through 12 school. The position is full-time on a 9-month hourly schedule with an $18.00 hourly rate. Shifts run 6:00 a.m.

to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend events. Responsibilities include dishwashing, sanitation, setup of dining areas, and adherence to food safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Prior dishwashing experience (1 year preferred).
• Must be able to pass an FBI background check.
• Must be available to work 6a-4p, Monday-Friday; weekends as needed for events.
• Willingness to work in a hot, humid environment.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate the dish machine for cleaning and sanitizing dishes, trays, silverware, glassware, pots, and pans: scrape, separate, and organize items.
• Note and record dish-machine temperatures, reporting low temperatures or machine malfunctions immediately.
• Transport related supplies and assist in the setup of dining and serving areas.
• Clean cafeteria areas throughout and after meal periods and replenish them to ensure service without interruption.
• Set up and use a three-compartment sink for cleaning and sanitizing pots and pans.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and cafeteria areas, including sweeping, mopping floors, and removal of trash.
• Assist with receiving and storing food products and food preparation following correct food handling procedures to ensure food safety.
• Perform all duties according to food safety and sanitation best practices.
• Other duties, as assigned.

What the Utility Steward will need:

• Must be able to pass an FBI background check

• Strong work ethic in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility: ability to switch between tasks and responsibilities as needed
• Reliability and a willingness to work in a hot, humid environment
• Ability to stand/move about for long periods and lift 25 lbs.
• Ability to adhere to company safety and sanitation procedures
• Good communication skills and great attitude
