Description

Purpose: The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure a safe, clean, and sanitary workspace in the Commercial Kitchen. The Prep Cook provides support to the Cooks and Catering Manager as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Washes dishes as they are brought in.
• Maintains a clean and sanitary workspace at all times.
• Observes safety regulations and procedures.
• Maintains the cleanliness and safety of kitchen and food storage areas.
• Assists Cooks and Catering Manager with prep work, wrapping, and storage as needed.
• Practices safe heavy lifting and carrying, with assistance if necessary.
• Works for long periods on feet, including standing, walking, and stair climbing.
• Performs repetitive movements such as pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, and twisting.
• Communicates clearly, including reading, writing, and speaking.
• Works around heat sources such as ovens and stovetops.
• Works with cleaning agents like bleach and other chemicals.
• Handles sharp objects such as knives safely.
• Completes daily cleaning of surfaces, sinks, stovetops, refrigerators, walls, counters, and floors.
• Performs daily closing duties, including cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment and sweeping/mopping.
• Works efficiently in a high-paced, potentially stressful environment.
• Interacts positively and professionally with colleagues, management, and customers.
• Follows a fixed schedule and communicates deviations in advance.
• Completes additional tasks as assigned promptly.
• Adheres to all policies and procedures of New Narrative.
