This essential role supports overall kitchen operations by ensuring all items are sanitized, stocked, and ready for service.The ideal candidate is highly reliable, efficient, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-driven environment. Maintaining a clean and orderly dish pit is key to supporting both the kitchen and front-of-house teams. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to stay calm under pressure are essential to success in this role.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS:Dishwashing & Sanitization: Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, pans, plates, silverware, and utensilsDish Pit Organization: Maintain a clean, organized, and functional dishwashing areaStocking Support: Restock clean dishware and utensils for kitchen and front-of-house useKitchen Cleanliness: Sweep and mop kitchen floors to maintain hygiene and safety standardsTrash & Waste Management: Remove kitchen trash and waste as neededDish Transport: Retrieve dirty dishes from front-of-house areas and return them to the dish pitPrep Support: Assist with basic kitchen prep tasks when neededSnow Removal: Clear snow in back-of-kitchen areas as needed for safe accessGrease Trap Maintenance: Clean and maintain kitchen grease trap as scheduledA Washington State Health District Food Service Permit is requiredSKILLS RECOMMENDED:Time Management: Ability to stay on task and maintain pace during busy service periods without sacrificing quality.Attention to Detail: Ensures all items are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and properly stored.Physical Endurance: Capable of working on your feet for long shifts in a physically demanding environment.Team Collaboration: Works efficiently with kitchen and front-of-house staff to maintain smooth operations.Adaptability: Able to shift focus between dishwashing, cleaning, and prep support as needed.Safety Awareness: Understands and follows safe handling procedures for kitchen tools, chemicals, and hot equipment.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:This position requires consistent standing and walking throughout the shift, with regular lifting, bending, kneeling, and reaching. The ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds is essential. Clear communication with team members and the ability to follow instructions accurately are critical for success. Additionally, the role involves working comfortably in a wet, high-activity environment with varying levels of kitchen noise.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Work takes place in the back-of-house kitchen area at the Hampton Lodge, often near hot equipment, wet floors, and food prep stations. The dishwashing station can be noisy, humid, and fast-paced, especially during peak service hours. The environment is team-focused and requires cooperation, communication, and the ability to adapt to changing needs quickly. Occasional work may occur outside when clearing snow near kitchen entrances to maintain safe access for staff and deliveries. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Seeing: FREQUENTLY (34-66%)-Must be able to readHearing: REGULARLY (67-100%)-Must be able to hear well. Guest service communication and employee communication is essential.Standing/Walking: REGULARLY (67-100%)-Consistent and constant standing and walking while in operation.Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: REGULARLY (67-100%)-The position requires the ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, stoop, and crouch for extended periods.Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: REGULARLY (67-100%)-Transporting food and beverage to and from Midway requires lifting of items up to 100 lb. in and on a snowcat trailer. The trailer needs to be loaded and unloaded twice a day.
