Job Summary
The Dishwasher maintains cleanliness and sanitation standards for glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, etc., using machine and manual cleaning methods. The Dishwasher also ensures the dishwashing area is maintained as a clean, safe, and sanitary facility.
Essential Job Functions
- Sort, rinse, and sanitize dirty dishes, glassware, tableware, and other cooking utensils to place them in racks to send through the dish machine.
- Sort and stack clean dishes, carry them to the cooks’ line and storage areas, rewash soiled dishes before delivery.
- Change dishwater in the dish machine every hour.
- Wash pots, pans, and trays by hand.
- Remove trash and garbage to the dumpster.
- Set up or break down the dishwashing area.
- Clean and roll/unroll mats.
- Fill and empty soak tubs with cleaning/sanitizing solutions.
- Sweep and mop floors.
- Assemble and disassemble the dish machine efficiently.
- Collect and sweep trash around the exterior of the restaurant and garbage dumpster.
- Conduct general restaurant and restroom cleaning as directed.
- Wipe up any spills to ensure kitchen floors remain dry.
- Notify the manager if the dish machine wash or rinse cycle falls below safety standard temperatures.
- Able to understand and comply with all safety regulations and rules.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proper practice of sanitation and hygiene.
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Physical ability to lift, reach, bend, and stoop.
- Ability to work standing for long periods.
- Effective communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods, possibly entire shifts.
- Lift at least 50 pounds, with assistance if more.
- Read and verify information in various formats.
- Move quickly and efficiently.
- Flexibility in wrist and body movements.
- Exposure to heat, steam, and cold.
- Reach overhead and below the knees.
- Mobility in walk-in refrigerators and freezers (-10°F to 40°F).
Preferred Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1-year dishwasher experience.
