Job summary

Kent School is seeking a Dishwasher to support the kitchen by keeping dishware and cooking equipment clean and stocked. The role is full-time, 10 or 12 months, with a Tuesday through Saturday schedule from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., including a half-hour unpaid lunch.

The position is non-exempt, with a pay range of $17.60–$19.00 per hour. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and ServSafe certification.

Responsibilities

• Load dirty dishes and pans into the dish machine during service.

• Maintain a clean and safe environment following applicable regulations (FIFO).
• Ensure all items are labeled for identification; manage storage areas at the station.
• Perform other duties as needed and assigned.

Job description

Schedule/travel:

Position Summary:

Dishwasher will work to ensure the kitchen is kept well stocked with clean, sanitary dishware and cooking equipment.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:

• Work the “load” end of the dish machine during service, loading dirty dishes and pans into the dish machine.
• Monitor station during service for sanitation and cleanliness.
• Assist with afternoon prep after restocking for next day’s service.
• Sweep the dining room and servery after lunch, spot mop as needed.
• Recommend changes to improve efficiencies.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment based on Federal, State, and Local regulations; FIFO.
• Ensure all items are labeled for identification (i.e., spray bottles).
• Ownership of the station’s storage areas.
• Performs other duties as needed and assigned.

Qualifications:

High School degree or a combination of education and work experience in related fields, preferably in a busy cafeteria-style environment. Servsafe certification is required (will be provided if needed).

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to communicate with coworkers in a constructive and positive manner.

• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage time effectively.
• Able to work independently and make sound decisions with flexibility/adaptability, and have a calm demeanor.
• Contribute to team effort by supporting other stations as needed.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands listed below are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:

• Requires employees to be on their feet for extended periods and to climb stairs.
• Ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs. without assistance.

Additional Requirements:

Successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment criminal background checks and drug test.

• Work is performed on a smoke-freecampus.
