Reports to : Executive Chef and Sous Chefs, position is non-exempt

WHO YOU ARE

You are a natural “neat-freak”, constantly adjusting shelves of food or equipment so the labels face out and the rows are nearly perfect. You take pride in a clean floor and understand the necessity of a well-kept walk-in cooler. Your past experiences have led you to understand that there is an art + science to the how and what of a restaurant kitchen. You have limited experience in the industry but are eager to learn under outstanding culinary leadership, working alongside your colleagues. Though you may not be on the line with the cooks, you understand that you are an integral part of the culinary operation and that cleanliness is key to success in any kitchen environment.

THE ROLE

The Dishwasher reports to the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs (Culinary Leadership Team), working to maintain the cleanliness and organization of our culinary spaces. It is essential that you understand culinary operations and apply your organizational skills under the guidance of the Chef. Collaboration with culinary leadership is important, as your insights contribute to our shared success. You will build trusting relationships with your peers in the kitchen and throughout the hotel, demonstrating professionalism and respect in all interactions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  1. Uphold and exemplify the company’s principles of People, Place, and Character, fostering collaboration, intuitive service, and translocal hospitality.
  2. Work closely with culinary leadership to provide the best guest experience.
  3. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and adhere to sanitary guidelines.
  4. Organize your workspace and handle equipment with care.
  5. Work efficiently to keep spaces clean and organized, ensuring a positive guest experience.
  6. Understand the workflow of a stewarding department and maintain culinary equipment.
  7. Communicate openly within the department through daily line-ups and staff meetings, sharing ideas and concerns.
  8. Participate in feedback sessions with culinary leadership for ongoing development.
  9. Monitor the condition of facilities and equipment, reporting issues promptly.
  10. Coordinate with culinary leadership to align on priorities, demonstrating flexibility to support operations.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • A passion for cleanliness and a desire to learn; curiosity about culinary arts.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety; valid Serve Safe Certificate required or ability to obtain within 30 days.
  • Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members at all levels.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment for extended periods.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. regularly, and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Stamina to stand or walk for long periods while cleaning and organizing.
  • Ability to withstand warm environments around dish machines, ovens, stoves, or fryers.
