Job summary

Langham Hospitality Group in Boston is hiring a Steward/Dishwasher to maintain cleanliness of dishware, cookware and the glassware area. You will clean, store and sanitize all kitchen items and support the dishwashing and utility stations.

Responsibilities

• Clean and store glassware, china and utensils using proper procedures to ensure best results.
• Clean cookware and presentation pieces for use by kitchen associates.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation according to company standards. Follows "clean as you go" standards.
• Keeps dishwashing area clean at all times; ensures dish water is changed at least every two hours.
• Assist in any utility station and/or kitchen station as needed.
• Keep floors swept and dry; use "wet floor" warning signs.
• Store glasses in proper glass rack; organize glasses in glass alley.
• Break down trays, set up dish machine, wash dishware, and sort/store all clean china, glass and silver.
• Perform special cleaning projects as assigned; supervisor may request additional duties.

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF POSITION

This position is responsible for cleanliness and sanitation of tableware, cookware, and glassware; all kitchen area cleaning, pot and pan washing areas and dishwasher area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cleans and stores all glassware, china and table utensils using proper procedures to ensure best results.
• Cleans cookware and presentation pieces for use by kitchen associates.
• Maintains cleanliness and sanitation according to company standards. Follows "clean as you go" standards. Keeps dishwashing area clean at all times.
• Ensures that dish water is changed when needed, but no less than every two hours.
• Assists in any utility station and/or kitchen station as needed.
• Makes sure the floors are kept swept and dry at all times; uses "wet floor" warning signs.
• Stores glasses in proper glass rack; organizes glasses in glass alley.
• Breaks down trays, sets up dish machine, washes dish ware, and sorts and stores all clean china, glass and silver using proper procedures.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

• De-limes dish machine when needed.
• Properly uses garbage disposal and grease traps.
• Responsible for floor persons duties during PM shift.
• Responsible for silver polisher duties during their absence.
• Perform special cleaning projects as assigned.
• Supervisor may also request additional duties not mentioned above.
• Clean and polish dish machine with stainless cleaner when needed.
• Report any issues with the dish machine to shift supervisor and Executive steward.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

• Be able to effectively communicate to all employees through both written and verbal skills.
• Maintain a confident and calm presence.
• Be self motivated, organized and discipline in work performance.
• Process a minimum 1 year experience in stewarding responsibilities in luxury hotel or restaurant of similar quality of Langham Hotel Boston.
• Ability to stand, sit, grasp, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, walk, kneel, squat, bend, push and pull.
• Use nonverbal auditory and visual sources of information e.g. alarms.
• Must be available to work the 3pm to 11:30pm shift.
• Maintain sanitation guidelines.
• Ability to assist in controlling daily operational needs.

PAY RANGE

• $33.97 - $34.27 per hour
