Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, substitutions may be allowed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and knowledge of public health functions.
• Professionalism, attention to detail, initiative and confidentiality.
• Able to discuss HIV/STI transmission with staff, public, and providers.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and complete investigations on reportable HIV/STI infections.
• Ensure testing and treatment for HIV/STI infections.
• Explain medical aspects of transmission and risk reduction.
• Notify partners of exposure and need for testing/treatment.
• Collect HIV/STI rapid specimens and report results.
• Provide health education per CDC guidelines to LPHA staff and partners.
• Assist other members of the disease investigation team as needed.
• Support QA and improvement projects with supervisor and coordinator.

Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

Excellent verbal and written communication

Professionalism, discretion and confidentiality

Comfort with sexually explicit discussions in partner services context
