Job summary

The State of Missouri invites applications for a public health investigator role based in Raytown, MO (8800 E 63rd St). You will initiate investigations on reportable HIV/STI infections, coordinate testing, and educate staff and community partners on transmission and prevention.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a working knowledge of public health functions and essential services.
• Professionalism, attention to detail, initiative, flexibility, discretion, and strict confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and complete investigations on reportable HIV/STI infections, including interviewing those infected or at risk of infection.
• Ensure appropriate testing and treatment of those with HIV/STI infections.
• Explain the medical aspects of disease transmission and risk reduction activities.
• Notify sex and needle-sharing partners of their exposure and need for testing and/or treatment.
• Conduct HIV/STI rapid specimen collection and provide both positive and negative results.
• Provide support, guidance, and health education regarding HIV/STI best practices to LPHA staff, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders.
• Assist other members of the disease investigation team, as needed.
• Assist the regional supervisor and program coordinator with quality assurance and improvement projects.
