Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking an Emergency Disaster Services Trainer/Coordinator to oversee training, compliance, and disaster response across Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. The role supports the EDS department in over 100 communities and ensures readiness for incidents.

Your work includes delivering in-person and virtual training, coordinating volunteers, maintaining equipment inventories, and preparing reports for leadership. Weekend and holiday readiness may apply.

Qualifications

• Three or more years’ experience in an Emergency Management or Disaster Response role to include training.
• Bachelor’s degree in emergency management is preferred.
• Experience providing training to adult individuals or large groups.

Responsibilities

• Support the Emergency Disaster Service department in over 100 Nebraska, South Dakota, and Iowa communities.
• Provides in-person and virtual training to volunteers and staff.
• Disaster response responsibilities include supplies, equipment, volunteers, training, and other resources needed to accomplish the response task.
• Responds to emergency and disaster incidents as directed, including requests for assistance from fire departments, law enforcement, emergency management agencies, and other partner organizations.
• Develops and maintains relationships with local, county, state, and federal emergency management agencies, VOAD, first responders, and other community partners.
• Assist the EDS Director with the Divisional Emergency Plan and provide best practices and current trends.
