Job summary

Samaritan's Purse in North Wilkesboro, NC is seeking an Assistant Program Manager for the North American Disaster Relief team. You will support the Program Manager, work with homeowners, volunteers, and church partners to meet spiritual and physical needs, and coordinate training and field operations.

You will assist with safety briefings, inventory control, reports, and outreach while maintaining a strong Christian witness and adapting to dynamic disaster contexts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2–3 years related experience or equivalent.
• Class A restricted driver's license and DOT Medical Card.
• General construction knowledge and ability to use a chainsaw.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word plus ability to learn in-house apps.
• Strong written and public speaking communication skills.
• Ability to perform under pressure and adapt to changing conditions.
• Ability to build and maintain an effective team with volunteers.
• Ability to use data to determine volunteer needs and deployment timelines.
• 12 credit hours of Biblical Studies required; opportunity to complete is available.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Program Manager with all aspects of the response, focusing on homeowners, Site Leadership, and volunteers.
• Engage homeowners to meet spiritual and physical needs through compassionate action.
• Implement volunteer training plans and safety briefings for large groups.
• Foster relationships with churches, government agencies, and relief organizations.
• Monitor disaster activity and manage field inventory, financials, and reports.
• Lead staff meetings and support ongoing operations as assigned.
