Job summary

SLSCO, Ltd. is seeking a Damage Assessor/Construction Manager to support disaster recovery in the greater St. Louis area. The role focuses on residential inspections, cost estimating, and compliance with environmental requirements under HUD programs.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in CDBG-DR construction management, with proficiency in Xactimate and knowledge of building codes. Onsite work and commutable distance to St. Louis are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years in CDBG-DR construction management, inspections, and damage assessments.
• 10+ years may substitute for educational requirements.
• Proficiency with Xactimate for damage assessments and cost estimating (required).
• Knowledge of IRC 2024 and IBC 2024; resilient residential construction practices.
• Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills; ability to resolve issues among parties.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• MS Office Suite proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• HQs or NSPIRE Inspector certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate in a team to support disaster recovery efforts, focusing on inspections, cost estimating, and environmental compliance.
• Perform site inspections to estimate repair costs and scope of work.
• Lead pre-bid walkthroughs and pre-construction meetings with builders and homeowners.
• Coordinate and conduct milestone inspections to verify work aligns with scopes.
• Review damage assessments and cost of repair reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate with departments and stakeholders to meet inspection requirements and codes.
• Incorporate environmental requirements into scopes of work and construction activities.
• Act as primary field contact for monitoring progress during active build phases.
• Provide timely feedback to applicants, contractors, and Project Manager.
• Notify Project Manager of schedule deviations and monitor subcontractor safety.
• Ensure project documents are completed, collected, and signed promptly.
