Job summary

The IEM Readiness Corps is recruiting for seasonal Hurricane Season deployments across the United States and Puerto Rico. Corps members will support federal, state, and local agencies in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery operations, potentially serving in EOCs or field deployments.

Roles emphasize rapid communication, adaptability, and teamwork under demanding conditions. Assignments may last 1–6 months with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to deploy during the Hurricane Season 2026.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year of direct disaster response or emergency management experience.
• Willingness to deploy on short notice (24–72 hours).
• EOC operations experience at state/local level in IC positions.
• ICS and NIMS training.
• Active Type 3+ incident management qualification or credentialing.
• Position Task Books or documented qualifications in command/general staff.
• Ability to meet physical and medical standards for deployment.
• Proficiency with standard office and communication software.
• Own computer and smart device with reliable internet; stipend provided.
• Familiarity with disaster management frameworks (Stafford Act, NRF).
• Ability to pass background checks and obtain necessary security credentials.

Responsibilities

• Serve in a response capacity in a state or local Emergency Operations Center or Joint Field Office.
• Collaborate with federal, state, and local agencies to support preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery efforts; liaise between field operations and EOC staff.
• Conduct rapid needs assessments and coordinate resources and logistics to meet priorities.
• Support emergency sheltering and mass care for displaced populations.
• Apply specialized skills (hazardous materials handling, disease surveillance, grant writing) as needed.
• Adapt to various roles and leadership levels; manage stakeholder relations.
• Contribute to after-action reviews and continuous improvement efforts.
