Job summary

Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security is seeking a Grants Specialist 1 to support the preparation and administration of grant proposals and ongoing grant programs. This is a time-limited, grant-funded position involved in disaster response and recovery efforts, with on-call duties and travel as needed.

The role requires knowledge of federal/state grant requirements, strong analytical and writing skills, and experience with FEMA Grants Outcome (FEMAGo) and EMGrants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business/public administration/finance or related field and two years experience in grant management, or six years in grant management/public funds or accounting; or one year at Grants Spec 2 or equivalent.
  • Equivalent education/experience substitutions allowed on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer Hazard Mitigation Assistance grant funds for the state or agency.
  • Monitor compliance with grant program policies and procedures.
  • Review sub-recipient reports and reimbursements for eligibility and accuracy.
  • Ensure grant applications are complete, eligible, and submitted on time to FEMA.
