Job summary

State of Georgia is seeking a Homeland Security Coordinator to work within GEMA/HS, overseeing school safety, emergency planning, and incident response across Georgia. The role requires POT certification, strong communication skills, and cross-agency collaboration.

The HSC will live within the assigned region or relocate at agency expense, with duties spanning training, plan reviews, and interagency coordination during disasters.

Qualifications

• Possess Intermediate level skills in the use of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint computer application software.
• Bachelor's degree in Homeland Security, criminal justice, emergency management, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR seven years of comparable experience.
• Minimum of three years’ Law Enforcement experience.
• Ability to acquire and maintain a U.S. Department of Homeland Security Federal Secret Security Clearance.
• Travel statewide and regionally as dictated by business needs of the position.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-scene assistance for natural and man-made disasters.
• Deliver public speaking engagements and brief senior government officials.
• Facilitate school emergency operations planning and training programs.
• Develop and maintain communications with public safety networks and GISAC.
• Respond to incidents and coordinate state response with local agencies.
