The Disability Insurance Program Manager I position is based in San Bernardino, CA with telework options and a standard 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. schedule.
The role leads field office units to ensure services comply with laws and department policies, focusing on program integrity and capacity building. The office is located at San Bernardino County, with a potential hybrid work arrangement as business needs arise. New and existing employees may be subject to a salary adjustment per PLP 2025.

New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
THIS POSITION MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR A HYBRID WORK SCHEDULE. THE AMOUNT OF TELEWORK IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE DEPARTMENT AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS BUSINESS NEEDS ARISE.
Under general direction, provides leadership for one or more field office units. Ensures services are delivered in compliance with laws, policies, and procedures governing the Disability Insurance Program. Emphasizes program integrity and proper duration control. Develops and maintains staff to ensure proper processing of workload while operating within budgetary limitations. Supports continuous capacity building for all unit staff. Encourages open, two-way, communication. Assists in the maintenance of a marketing program, which includes educating and partnering with program customers. Has knowledge of the office budget processes. Complies with all system security, internal control, and employee safety requirements. May serve as office manager in the manager’s absence. Acts a coach and role model to members of the management team and to all staff. Supports the Branch and Department vision, mission, values, and goals.

Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) per month. The Disability Insurance Program Manager I (DIPM I) is a Departmental Promotional exam for EDD employees only. The next administration of the Disability Insurance Program Manager I exam is tentatively scheduled for May 2027.
