Job Description And Duties

THIS POSITION MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR A HYBRID WORK SCHEDULE. THE AMOUNT OF TELEWORK IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE DEPARTMENT AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS BUSINESS NEEDS ARISE.

Under general direction, provides administrative leadership for a large-sized field office. Ensures services are delivered in compliance with laws, policies, and procedures governing the Disability Insurance Program. Emphasizes program integrity and proper duration control. Oversees personnel actions to ensure appropriate staffing levels, capacity building, and open communication. Understands and helps effectively administer the field office budget. Uses analysis and data-gathering tools in decision making processes. Maintains a marketing program which includes educating and partnering with program customers. Complies with all system security, internal control, and employee safety requirements. Acts as a coach and role model to members of the management team and to all staff. Supports the Branch and Department vision, mission, values, and goals.

EXPECTATION – MISSION, VISION, GOALS

The incumbent contributes toward the growth of the DI Branch into a customer-focused service organization by following and applying SDi Branch cultural principles. The incumbent is required to have knowledge of the principles of the SDI Branch programs. Protect program integrity by identifying and reporting any suspected fraudulent claims and/or activities.

This position allows for a hybrid telework schedule, which is subject to change under EDD’s telework policy. California Government Code Section 14200 requires employees to reside in California in order to telework. Employees may be required to report to their headquarters office as needed for operational needs, required scheduled in office days associated with the hybrid schedule, and other activities including but not limited to new employee training.

The Disability Insurance Program Manager II is a Departmental Promotional exam for EDD employees only. The next administration of the Disability Insurance Program Manager II exam is tentatively scheduled for May, 2027.

Individuals who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (please attach your letter, if available). SROA and Surplus candidates are given priority; therefore, individuals with other eligibility may be considered in the event no SROA or Surplus candidates apply. Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).
