Job summary

Abington Township is seeking a Director of Wastewater Utilities to lead the wastewater facilities and collection systems. The role requires directing staff, ensuring safe operation, and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local permits.

The incumbent will supervise operators, oversee capital planning, respond to emergencies, perform data report preparation, and ensure efficient plant performance in line with PaDEP and EPA requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have at least a high school diploma; science/engineering/chemistry degree preferred.
• Must hold or obtain Pennsylvania Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license (B-1 or higher).
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Treatment Plant and Collections System staff and capital projects.
• Regulate biological, chemical, physical, and electrical processes to meet NPDES, PaDEP, EPA permits.
• Coordinate emergencies and oversee maintenance, data reporting, and capital planning.
