Job summary

WM is seeking a Director, Wastewater Process Engineer to lead enterprise-wide initiatives for landfill liquids management and treatment within the ES&WT program. You will establish policies, oversee procedures, and collaborate with corporate and area leadership to ensure compliance and operational excellence across all facilities.

The role requires deep technical leadership on leachate treatment, permitting, and technology development, plus managing outside consultants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in industrial wastewater treatment design and operations.
• Master’s degree preferred; 10+ years experience; 3+ years management preferred.
• PE license preferred but not required.
• Experience handling landfill liquids and related environmental solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enforce policies for landfill liquids handling, treatment, and disposal.
• Lead leachate treatment facility design and commissioning.
• Provide technical leadership across engineering disciplines and projects.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and coordinate with authorities.
• Mentor staff and manage external consultants and researchers.
