Job summary

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Director of eSoftware Engineering for the Equities Electronic Trading team to set technical direction and personally contribute to ultra-low latency market infrastructure design. You will lead FPGA pipelines, network subsystems, and AI-assisted spec-driven workflows from requirements through production rollout.

You will guide a team of hardware and software engineers, manage vendors, and drive performance, determinism, and production-grade controls.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience.
• In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items.
• Strong expertise and hands-on FPGA development experience in low-latency electronic trading and HFT systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and optimize ultra-low latency FPGA-based pipelines for market data ingest, processing, and distribution as well as trading workflows.
• Design and deliver high-performance network subsystems on FPGA and time synchronization capabilities, with production-grade instrumentation.
• Engineer Layer 1 switching and ultra-low latency signal distribution, including deterministic path design.
• Partner with network engineering teams and vendors to design, validate, and operate low-latency connectivity solutions including microwave links.
• Own verification strategy with Python/Cocotb testbenches for high coverage and fast debug cycles.
• Drive timing closure and performance predictability across route, timing, and power constraints.
• Serve as technical lead across hardware and software engineers, guiding architecture and execution.
• Lead AI-assisted and spec-driven workflows for FPGA development with traceability and review automation.
