Director, Transportation and Parking Services

The Director of Transportation & Parking Services provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and administrative direction for the University’s comprehensive transportation and parking programs. Reporting to the Executive Director of Facilities Management, this position is responsible for developing and implementing a safe, customer-focused, financially sustainable, and innovative transportation system that supports the University’s academic, research, residential, and other priorities.

The Director leads all aspects of parking administration, parking enforcement, sustainable transportation initiatives, transit services, fleet support, special event transportation and parking, customer service, and transportation and parking planning. The position develops long-range mobility strategies, oversees departmental finances and personnel, establishes policies and procedures, and collaborates extensively with campus partners, municipal agencies, and regional transportation organizations.

The Director leads and oversees the daily operation of Transportation & Parking Services, including:

  • Parking permit administration
  • Parking enforcement and citation management
  • Shuttle and transit programs
  • Bicycle and micromobility programs
  • Transportation demand management initiatives
  • Special event transportation and parking operations
  • Parking facilities and equipment
  • Parking technology systems and access control

Ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently, consistently, and in accordance with university policies.

As a member of the Facilities Management leadership team, the Director contributes to departmental strategic planning and fosters a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and exceptional customer service.

This position provides direction and management of the operations of the department of Transportation and Parking Services. Transportation responsibilities include the Campus Area Transportation System (fixed route and on-campus charter service), a fleet of vehicles, and fleet maintenance. Parking responsibilities include lot designation and maintenance, permit management and enforcement, and visitor and special event parking. Other responsibilities include sustainability strategic planning of transportation elements. This position requires active engagement in learning, practicing principles of social justice and inclusion, environmental sustainability, delivering great customer experience, and knowledge of Transportation Demand Management ( TDM ).

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, Higher Education Administration, or a closely related field. Seven to ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience in transportation, parking, mobility, auxiliary services, facilities management, municipal transportation, or a related field. Demonstrated experience managing budgets, personnel, and complex operations. Experience developing policies, strategic initiatives, and organizational improvements. Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and customer service skills. Experience in a public service-oriented position to include associated budget oversight and personnel management required. Demonstrated experience in transportation demand management and federal/state regulatory experience required. Demonstrated leadership in a collaborative, decision-making environment, including direct experience interacting with executive management on a regular basis. Effective communication, presentation, problem-solving and team-building skills required. Ability to handle multiple priorities concurrently required. Ability to reconcile differing viewpoints and to make constructive policy recommendations required. Management experience supervising professionals required. Ability to use various software and technology, including financial software required. Proven and effective project management skills required. Experience collaborating with collaboration with municipal and regional partners.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience in higher education transportation or parking operations.
  • Experience managing a self-supporting auxiliary enterprise.
  • Experience implementing parking technologies and mobility innovations.
Anticipated Pay Range

Anticipated Pay Range 110,000 - 130,000 annual salary
