Job summary

Confidential, a strategic tech leader, seeks a Director, Technology PMO to architect and scale a high-velocity portfolio of infrastructure and AI initiatives. You will lead enterprise portfolio management, optimize resources, and establish KPIs to drive ROI and alignment with executive strategy.

You will champion Agile transformation for AI/ML workflows and oversee governance of AI projects, including LLM deployment, data pipelines, and tooling integration using Cursor and Atlassian Rovo.

Qualifications

• 10+ years leading a PMO or enterprise portfolio management function.
• 7+ years managing high-complexity technical programs incl AI/ML.
• Expert knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
• Hands-on integration with Cursor and Atlassian Rovo in production environments.
• Willingness to work on-site 5 days a week.

Job description

We are seeking a highly strategic, results-driven Director, Technology PMO to architect, scale, and lead our enterprise Project Management Office. This is not a traditional administrative PMO role; it is a high-impact leadership position tailored for an AI-forward organization. You will oversee a complex, high-velocity portfolio of technical, infrastructure, and advanced Artificial Intelligence initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in agile methodologies, comprehensive portfolio management, and a hands-on track record of driving AI/ML projects from ideation to production. As a modern technology leader, you must be a champion of developer productivity and enterprise AI tooling, specifically utilizing Cursor for rapid software prototyping and engineering workflow tracking, and Atlassian Rovo for enterprise knowledge discovery, AI search, and agent orchestration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Enterprise Portfolio Management: Define, execute, and govern the end-to-end project portfolio management (PPM) process to ensure clear alignment between executive strategy and technical execution.
• Resource Allocation & Capacity Planning: Optimize resource distribution across multiple cross-functional engineering and AI research teams to maximize delivery velocity and ROI.
• KPI & Health Tracking: Establish data-driven guardrails, metrics, and dashboards to evaluate project health, blockages, financial variances, and strategic impact.

Agile & AI Delivery Leadership:

• Agile Transformation: Champion and evolve our Agile and Scrum framework, tailoring methodologies to fit the unique, iterative, and exploratory nature of AI/ML workflows.
• Technical & AI Project Oversight: Provide direct governance over at least 7 years of equivalent, complex software development and machine learning initiatives (including LLM deployment, NLP, data pipelines, or predictive modeling).
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the critical bridge between Product, Software Engineering, AI Research, Data Science, and Executive leadership.

AI Tooling & Productivity Integration:

• Knowledge & Workflow Automation (Atlassian Rovo): Actively leverage Atlassian Rovo to unify organizational knowledge across disparate channels (Jira, Confluence, Slack, Drive), deploying Rovo Agents and Rovo Chat to streamline PMO reporting, automate status tracking, and break down communication silos.
• Developer Workflow Optimization (Cursor): Maintain familiarity with Cursor to understand and optimize modern AI-first engineering workflows, tracking its impact on development velocity and sprint estimations.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related technical field.
• Leadership Experience: 10+ years of experience leading a PMO or enterprise portfolio management function.
• Technical & AI Longevity: At least 7 years of direct experience managing high-complexity technical programs, with verified experience overseeing Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Advanced Data Analytics pipelines.
• Agile Expertise: Expert knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) with strong opinions on how to adapt them successfully to software and data science paradigms.
• Next-Gen Tool Mastery: Hands-on proficiency and active workflow integration with Cursor (AI code editor) and Atlassian Rovo (AI search, chat, and agents).
• Work Arrangement: Ability and willingness to work on-site in our office 5 days a week.
